One thing that has been at the very deep and distant reaches of my mind is "what would I do if Newcastle reached the FA Cup Final in May?". I'll be 2 weeks into the run across the USA when the cup final is played on the 14th May!
When I was interviewed by The Mag for the Summer Special last year they did ask what my plans were if Newcastle reached Wembley. "Plan B", as I called it, would have meant stopping progress on the run 3 days east of Las Vegas and getting a flight to London for the match. After the match, I would have got the next available flight back to Las Vegas and resumed the run.
Fortunately, though, Newcastle are no longer in the FA Cup. Every cloud.....
